FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the BeadyFriends Cruise?

The BeadyFriends cruise has been planned so that we will have plenty of time for beads and fun! Many of us have traveled together before, but there is more than enough room for new friends.

What if I need a roommate?

We will do our best to match you up with a roomate if you do not have a travel partner.

Can I still register?

Yes, you can! The registration process is just beginning and will close on September 30th.

Who is the travel agent?

I am! The travel ageny is Turtle Bay Island Vacations, Inc. I can be reached at: Shelley@BeadyFriends.com

Who is organizing the cruise?

Shelley Gross, of Lakewood, Ohio, an experienced stringer and beadweaver is organizing the cruise. She coordinated the 2007 BeadyFriends Cruise and it was a wonderful success! Shelley's sister,  Heidi Quinn and her husband Joe are the owners of Turtle Bay Island Vacations, Inc. You can email us at shelley@BeadyFriends.com .

How do I find out more about the ship and island activities?

Royal Caribbean's website is www.rccl.com.  We will be traveling on the Rhapsody of the Seas. The deck layout, facilities, amenities, shore tour information and lots more are available on the site. They will even help you pack!

How many passengers will there be?
We are not limiting the number of passengers this year. The number of beaders will remain consistant at around 30, but there are many husbands, sweeties, parents and family members that want to experience Alaska. Everyone is welcome!
What will we be doing on the cruise?

The atmosphere will be very casual. I will be reserving conference rooms for our sessions.

What kind of classes are you offering?

Class time is informal. The class and demonstrations are still under consideration and will be posted as soon as decisions have been made.  The class times will be posted. It is not mandatory that you attend any or all of the groups, but you are welcome to all. A wide range a beading talent will be available for you to draw on. Come ready to learn and share what you know with others.

What do demos and kits cost?

There is no charge for any of our mini-classes. They will be taught by cruise participants who do not receive any compensation except for adding to the knowledge that they already have by tapping into the skills of everyone on board.

We may be fortunate enough to have some bead kits for sale from nationally known artists.

Is there a fee for participatins?

Yes, in 2009 there will be a $50 participation fee for all beaders. Spouses and guests are not required to pay the fee. All monies will be used to produce the printed program, defer some of the website costs and ship all of our wonderful goodie bags to the ship for us to enjoy.

What if I have something that I would like to share with the group?

New ideas are always welcome! If you have a suggestion or would like to volunteer to be a demonstrator, please email us and we will do our best to fit your class into the current schedule.
